About
YouTube Playback Controller is a free, privacy-first browser extension built on one belief: you should decide how fast you watch — not the player.
The problem
YouTube’s native speed menu is limited, hidden behind clicks, and forgets your preference on every video. Power viewers — students, researchers, developers, podcast bingers — deserve better than that.
What we built
A precise, two-way speed controller that stays in perfect sync with YouTube’s own controls. Set custom presets, fine-tune with a slider, drive it entirely from the keyboard, and automate speed per channel, title or URL. Save profiles for different moods. See the live speed right on your toolbar icon. It works across YouTube, YouTube Music and youtu.be, on Chrome, Firefox and every major Chromium browser.
Our principles
Private
Zero data collection. Your settings never leave your browser.
Lightweight
No bloat. Loads instantly, stays out of your way.
Free
No ads, no accounts, no upsells. Forever.
